So if it isn't obvious yet, I've started sewing. I bought a sewing machine ages ago, with the full intention of you know, making my own clothes, selling clothes and handbags, making cosplay outfits and of course my own quilts, jackets and towels. Little did I realize, these actually require...effort. So a few weeks ago, I began that effort in the form of pajama pants. I made a pair of Superman pajama pants for my dad. They were too big, too long, and had wonky pockets. But it was a start!

I knew I needed a stethoscope cover for my stethoscope at my place of work, so I bridged the next knowledge gap: creating your own patterns. It was very hit and miss, I started three of them, discarding two for different reasons. I didn't factor in the stretch of the earpieces, then I didn't factor in the circumference of the diaphragm, and then finally, FINALLY, I got one that worked.

So then my dad's birthday comes up. He needs a gift. He is THE most impossible person to shop for, but he's going in for surgery to get his cancerous prostate removed on the 28th. So I thought, I shall make him BETTER pajama pants! I bought three really neat materials for the pants, and enough fleece to line all three. I finally finished the first pair tonight (despite his birthday, and mine, being on the 18th), and got him to try them on and give me pointers for the other two. Well, he only wants another lined pair, so maybe I will make myself a pair of simply fleece pants. :3 He also need a combo elastic-drawstring closure, so that will be a fun bit of improvising to attempt on my part. Every sewing project is an experiment! So expect more experiments to show up in your inbox soon.
